A boy and his hair
At some point this blog sort of changed from being a journal of the New Things I did to the New Things Babboo's done. Oopsie.
Screw it. Let's just keep with tradition.
You all know how Babboo has luxurious locks, right? If case you've forgotten please look to your left and be reminded of his awesomely awesome hair.
Oh yes, it is muy awesome.
And while it's very awesome, it's also a little too long and results in him tripping over his toys because really, he just can't see through the hair. The King and I discussed getting his hair cut. And by "discussed" I mean that I brought it up and The King said stuff like "don't cut his damn hair" and "if you cut his hair I might have to cut you!" So yeah, the hair, it was not cut.
Over the last few weeks The King has noticed the growing need to cut Babboo's hair. Discussions were brought up (again). It was decided that we could get his hair trimmed. The back needed to stay long, but the bangs could get a little cut. (I sent The King pictures of Noah's hair as proof that you can keep it long, but still have it out of the kid's eyes.)
Last night we picked up Babboo from school, stopped at the Home Depot (it's not a night out at our house without a trip to The Depot) and headed over to the local SuperCuts for his first official hair cut. (Because really, I'm not paying more then $20 to get his hair cut.) Babboo was a champ and let the nice man cut his hair. He held still the entire time, even when the guy kept saying "does she like her to get her hair cut?!"
(I assumed he kept calling Babboo a "she" because English was his second language. But it turns out he thought he was a girl until well after the hair cutting session was over. Good Lord people, he's a damn boy!)
The guy kept cutting and cutting and cutting. I finally stood up, walked over there and said "that's enough" and got Babboo away from the scissors.
Seriously, it was enough.

WAIT! I CAN'T SEE THE LAST PICTURE!! UGH! NOT FAIR!!
Ok, whew. I can see now, and so can Babboo! Whew! You gotta keep an eye on the cutters, because sometimes they go crazy! SO CUTE!
Oh he's so sweet.
And you definitely did not ruin the long hair, nor did you give him a mullet, which is a good thing.
I love that you don't let people's girl comments get to you. rock on, sassy mama!
Oh I love it. He's still as precious as ever.
Oh he looks so sweet! Glad he can see again, too :)
You know, it is new to you, too - the first time you brought Babboo to get a haircut.
It was definely enough. He looks great!
My oldest son had long brown curls that I love, but sadly I let the 'girl' comments get to me. Babboo is lucky to have a mama like you.
Definitely a successful first cut. He can see, and yet he still looks like a rock star.
Adorable!!!
I love when boys have longer hair. When Zach was 1, he had the cuttest little curls. He now has short hair all the time, but Shaun and I prefer him with the longer hair.
Whew! I thought you had done something drastic! Love the haircut, Babboo.
I LOVE that first picture of Babboo. Have it framed if you don't already.
Such a cutie! I adore that first photo.
My son is growing his hair now and it is quite long but you can still see that he´s a boy! But, in school he has a friend who is really girly but doesn´t seem to care. According to my son he was teased in the beginning but he seemed not to care. That´s amazingly strong because we all know about group preasure.
The other day, I saw this boy in school when picking up my son and I could hardly believe my eyes! I haven´t seen him for a long time now and he was not recognizable! The most beautiful long and curly hair you can emagine! Not only that it was extremely long (all the way passing his bum!), it was so girly! A fantastic cascade of blond wavy hair embedded him and on top of that, he wore a girl´s coat! Yes, he was very sweet and he seemed all happy about it! The girls around him cued to comb his hair - I guess they envied him!
But, as I said, very, very brave of him to withstand all the looks from others just to be himself!
