What, you like pizza?
I'm not sure if you know this about me or not, but I love pizza. For as much as I love pizza can you believe that I had never had authentic Chicago-style-pizza before? Since I was in Chicago anyway, I figured I'd better give it a try.
Mrs. Squirrel and I woke up on our last day in Chicago and decided to find me some damn Chicago-style pizza. Stat.
I'm guessing we walked about 3.2 miles trying to find the pizza place. Oh, did I mention that Chicago is hot in July? 'Cause it is.
This is what I looked like when we finally arrived at Gino's East.
And this is what I looked like when our pizza finally arrived.
So was the pizza good?
Sure. But isn't pizza always good?
Is it worth flying to Chicago to eat more often?
Probably not.
Will I order it again the next time I'm in Chicago? Of course. But only if this lady promises to share it with me again. Because, let's be honest, it was the best thing about that meal.

You're too sweet. Next time, we'll hit Giordano's for the spinach pizza. I think it would have tasted better had we not waited 3 lifetimes.
BTW, the waiter totally crushed on Isabel and wanted to hop in her luggage back to Seattle.
Oooooh, I loves me some pizza too!! I wonder if there is a pizza place here that serves "Chicago" style pizza!
I've eaten at Gino's East. In fact I was there in June. Not bad, but you're right, it's all about who you're with.
That seems like a fun new thing to try, especially since you were on vacation! And that pizza looks delicious!
Pizza IS always good (in memory. darned dairy and wheat and yeast allergies!) The best pizza I ever had though, was up in Alaska...all their crusts are made with sourdough...mmmm
Did you ever eat at the Pie? Here where I am? Not in Chicago?
I heart the Pie.
Pizza... mmmm...
The closest thing I've had to "Chicago" pizza is Uno's deep dish. (In Cali...is that a national chain?) I don't really associate pizza with Chicago, though. I'm more of a NYC slice girl.
I can't believe I didn't comment on this before. Because... you know. Pizza!
Next time you're in New York (and there WILL be a next time), I'm taking you and The King and Sweet Babboo to Lombardi's. It's the first pizza oven in America. They still cook their pies in the very same brick oven. And it? Is delicious!
Saw the background of that photo and was all, "THAT'S GENO'S!" Yummy.
LOVE your new header ladies. That is the coolest evah!
I love Gino's! You know you can order Gino's for delivery, anywhere in the U.S.?! Gino's pizza is my husband's favorite food, so I had it delivered for his birthday last year. Comes in dry ice with cooking directions. Yummy!
Pizzeria Uno and Giordano's are great places for pizza! I'm sure I've had Gino's, but it was a looong time ago.
Hey! You eat your pizza with a fork? SO DO I!
