In which I try to not dress my age

As you know, I live in the downtown area of a very hip(ish) metropolis. Which means I have to see hott young girls strutting around with their huge sunglasses, high heels, and metallic hobo bags. I'm easy to spot. I'm the one in black Old Navy slacks pushing a stroller with my timbuk2 diaper bag. My eyes are always darting back and forth to check out what everyone else is wearing. I take it all in and think, how can I pull that look off?

(See, I told you I'm always doing this.)

It's (almost) summer and I'm itching for new things to wear. Plus, I'm trying new things in general. Because of this, I'm brave. I'll try a new look. I'll suck it up and try to pull it off.

I have these great pink Gap pants I bought last summer. I didn't really like them as pants, so I had my grandma cut them and hem them for me. I love capri's even if some people don't. And I'm not afraid to wear them to work. What I am afraid of is wearing them with heels.

But not today. Nope, today I'm wearing my pink pants with my highest heels. Yes, this is as high as I go. I like the look. I think it's jaunty and the bright pink makes me happy. (I think I've decided that I don't have to wear all black. I mostly just have to have a black shirt one. Interesting.)

It's still morning, but I haven't had any questionable comments from my co-workers about my choice of clothes. You know, things like "um...I like your pants..." or "nice heels". Or ever, "you're stacked". Okay, I don't usually hear any comments from them, except for the one time my (male) co-worker pointed out my gray hairs. Jerk. I hope you die sad and alone. Except not really since I'm a bigger person.

Now I just need to do something about my damn hair. Do you think I should try bangs again? Or maybe some more layers? You tell me.

Also, has this blog inspired you to do anything new in your own life? If so, what have you tried that's new??

(Even better...any suggestions of things you would like us to try?!)

I am also rocking the capris and heels look, so obviously I think you look fantastic. Pink is a really fun color on you!

In terms of new things to try.... Have you ever thought of watching a soap?

I think I had those shoes, and in a fit of frustration gave them away last year because I could never figure out what to wear with them. Dammit, because you look SO CUTE!!! I love it!! You're right, the pink is jaunty.

You look fabulous!

And watch out for that Frema. She is trying to pull you over to the All My Children dark side. Be strong.

Besides, Young & The Restless is the best soap anyways.

Love the pants! That is a fab look for you.

As for the hair, I am totally having a bangs/layers craving right now too. I'm giving it a few more weeks to see if I grow out of it or if I realllllly want them. How to decide?

See, while I don't like capri's on myself (it's an ankle issue, really) I think they are fantastic on other people. And why not in hot pink? Love it!

I hate capris, but only for myself. I love them on other people. They're just not made for short people! They always end up looking like too-short regular pants. Stupid capris. But you look super cute.

I can't tell you how often I find myself thinking "well, this is new to me!" and thinking of this blog. So far this week, I stood up to a pushy "friend" and had to make an emergency trip to the pharmcacy, and both times I thought "new to me!"

I also wish I had an anonymous blog so I could actually talk about them. Sadly, my "friend" reads my blog and would definitely recognize herself. Plus, I didn't really stand up to her. I just made up a white lie so I couldn't do what she wanted. But still... I didn't do it, which is new to me. I usually get suckered in.

Excellent Job on the capris and heels. Exra cute. I wore this last summer and my only issue is sweating little pigs inside the shoes.

On the hair issue, let's talk about your texture, length preference, morning versus nite showerer. I think all of these things have an effect on the style you should choose. But just based upon the photo, I would go a little longer than shoulder length, long layers (unless you have a tendency to have poofy hair) in that case go crazy all over with layers. No bangs for the moment. If you end up doing bangs, go longer than you initially think. That way if you hate them, growing out is easier and you can always go shorter later.

You have a good forehead, so I don't think bangs are a neccesity.

Oh! Look at Hottie Isabel in her pink pants!! Love the heels! Love 'em!!!

SO cute, honey! I like long layers. Cut some long layers, and do the longer bangs in case you don't like them. You can always go shorter or grow them out.

I heart the pants. You're rockin' the hot pink. Who woulda thunk...

That outfit is adorable! I am coveting it. You look amazing. I would say, cut like 2 1/2 inches off and do long layered bangs if you want to try something different. I think you look great as is, but you can pull of shorter hair. Even 3 inches :-)

I'm LOVIN' this look on you! You look so hot! Go Isabel! :) I think you should definitely wear this more often!

My advice for your hair, is try some layers, bangs, but not super short ones, and maybe even do some color? I think you'd look awesome with some burgundy streaks in your hair! :)

I can't say I've tried anything new, but when I went to La Caille last week, I was really really close to trying the Es Cargo (or however you spell it) and so wanted to tell you! But I just couldn't do it. Maybe someday I'll be able to try it!

I love love love the outfit!!!! You look grrrreat (ala Tony the Tiger)! I'm trying to decide something new to do with my hair also. And, I was thinking bangs, but I'm scared!

Also, let's not use the word jaunty.

you look awesome! Very much a yummy mummy. Can't help you with the hair. I'm having similar issues and thinking I may go shorter with more layers.
I love my heals! Especially with capis cuz I sport a nasty pair of kankles:(
